Version 3.1.2 · Effective 24 September 2026
In short
- Convo AI writes suggested messages. They are drafts for you to read and judge — sending one is your decision and your responsibility.
- An AI model writes them, so they can be wrong about what is in a photo or a bio. Check anything factual before you rely on it.
- You need the right to use the photos you add, and you must not use the app to harass, deceive, or pressure anyone.
- Paid plans are billed by Apple and renew automatically until you cancel. You cancel and request refunds through Apple, not through us.
1. The agreement, and who it is with
These terms are a binding agreement between you and Convo Labs LLC ("we", "us"), the publisher of the Convo AI app. They are your licence to use the app. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
You accept them by using the app. Where the app asks you to agree to something specific — such as sending photos to an AI service for processing — that agreement is asked for separately, and these terms do not stand in for it.
Apple is not a party to this agreement. See section 14, which sets out the terms Apple requires and which apply to your use of the app on Apple devices.
2. Who may use the app
You must be at least 13 years old to use Convo AI, and old enough to enter into a binding contract where you live. If you are under the age of majority in your country, you may use the app only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who accepts these terms.
Romantic and dating features are for adults. Do not use them if you are under 18. The app's other uses — a classmate, a coworker, a new friend — are open to anyone old enough to use it at all, and are deliberately not gated behind an adult check.
The app refuses to write romantic or flirtatious messages about a person recorded as under 18, and asks you to confirm an age when the material suggests it may be reading a minor. Working around that refusal is a breach of these terms.
3. What the app does, and what it does not
Convo AI takes what you tell it about one person — written details, photos, the situation, the tone you want — and returns suggested opening messages or replies. It does this by sending your material to an AI model operated by Anthropic, PBC, and returning what the model writes.
3.1 Suggestions, not advice
Everything the app produces is a draft for you to read, edit, and decide about. Nothing it writes is professional, psychological, legal, or relationship advice, and it is not a substitute for any of those.
3.2 AI output can be wrong
The model can misread a photo, misattribute a detail in a bio, or state something confidently that is not true. Factual assertions in what it produces should not be relied on without checking them yourself. You are the one sending the message, and you are responsible for what it says.
Output may also occasionally be unsuitable for the situation, or inconsistent with our views or yours. If that happens, tell us — see section 12.
3.3 No promise of a result
Nobody can promise a reply. The app draws on published communication research, but a message that works on one person falls flat with another and the app has no way of knowing which. Suggestions are provided as they are, with no guarantee of any outcome.
4. Photos, and the people in them
This is the part of these terms most worth reading, because most photos you add are of somebody else, and that person has not agreed to any of this.
- You must have the right to use every image you add — because you took it, because it was shared with you, or because it is on a profile you were shown in the ordinary way.
- Do not add images obtained by hacking, deception, scraping, or from a private account you were not given access to.
- Do not add intimate or sexual images of anyone, whether or not you have their permission.
- Never add images of a child in a sexual context. We report suspected child sexual abuse material to the authorities as the law requires, and terminate access without notice.
- Do not use the app to build a file on someone, to track them, or to work out who an anonymous person is.
4.1 What the app does with a photo
A photo is read once, by the AI model, into a written description which is then stored on your device and reused. The app does not run facial recognition, does not create a scan of anyone's face geometry, and does not attempt to identify anyone. The Privacy Policy sets this out in full.
4.2 If you are the person in a photo
Someone may have added a picture of you. We keep no lasting copy of it — it is on their device — so we cannot delete it for you. Write to support@convolabs.net and we will tell you plainly what we can and cannot do, and what the app does and does not retain.
5. Acceptable use
The Acceptable Use Policy forms part of these terms, and sets out in specific terms what the app must not be used for. In summary: do not use Convo AI to harass, deceive, threaten, impersonate, stalk, or pressure anyone, and do not use it to approach a child romantically.
The app declines requests of that kind. A refusal is the app working, not a fault to be worked around, and deliberately trying to get around one is itself a breach.
6. Plans, billing, and refunds
6.1 What is included
Free includes 3 conversations in total, once — it does not refill. Gold is $9.99 per month for 30 conversations a month. Platinum is $19.99 per month for 50 conversations a month plus replies and every tone.
A conversation is one call on the AI: reading a new person's photos (which includes their first set of openers), generating again for someone, or a set of replies. Prices are in US dollars and may differ in your local store.
6.2 Auto-renewal
Paid plans are auto-renewing monthly subscriptions sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation. A subscription renews automatically for a further month, at the same price, unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period.
6.3 Cancelling
You cancel in your Apple Account settings, not in this app: Settings → your name → Subscriptions on iOS. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep the plan until the end of the period you have already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
6.4 Refunds
Purchases are made from Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's Media Services terms, at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue a refund for an App Store purchase ourselves. If something went wrong, tell us anyway — we would rather fix it, and we can support a refund request with what we know.
Unused conversations do not carry over to the next month and are not refundable. Withdrawing your consent to AI processing deletes your account (section 9) and does not refund a membership; any refund request is Apple's to decide under Apple's policy, as above. Where the law where you live gives you a right to cancel or a right to a refund, that right applies and this clause does not reduce it.
6.5 Price and plan changes
We may change prices or what a plan includes. A change to a price you are already paying takes effect only after the notice Apple requires, and you can cancel before it applies rather than accept it.
7. Your content and ours
7.1 What you put in
What you enter stays yours. We take no ownership of it and no licence over it beyond what is needed to run the app for you: passing it through our server to the AI service so a suggestion can come back. Your people, photos, openers and notes are stored on your device and we keep no lasting copy of them. What our server does hold (your account, a record of the conversations you use, and a few settings) is listed in section 2.2 of the Privacy Policy.
7.2 What comes out
As between you and us, the suggestions the app produces for you are yours. Use them, edit them, send them. Because a model generates them from your material, similar material can produce similar output for someone else, and we make no claim that a suggestion is unique or that it can be protected as your own work.
7.3 The app itself
The app, its design, and the research library it draws on are ours and are licensed to you, not sold. You may not copy, resell, rent, reverse engineer, or extract the app's prompts or research content, or use the app to build a competing service.
8. Availability and changes
The app depends on an external AI service, and can be interrupted by outages, rate limits, model changes, or anything else outside our control. We do not promise the app will always be available or that a particular feature will keep working.
Features may be added, changed, or removed as the app develops. Where a change materially reduces what a paid plan includes, you may cancel and stop being billed — see section 6.3.
9. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the app at any time; deleting it removes your people, photos, openers and settings from your device, though a few sign-in items can stay in the iOS Keychain (Privacy Policy, section 7). It does not cancel a subscription — see 6.3.
You may delete your account at any time, in Profile → Security & Privacy. Withdrawing your consent to AI processing, on the same screen, does the same thing: the app cannot do anything without that consent, so withdrawing it deletes the account rather than leaving one behind that cannot be used. Either way, that erases the app's data on your device and your account records on our server (section 2.2 of the Privacy Policy) at once and permanently, except support emails you sent us, which we keep for up to 24 months after the conversation's last message or erase sooner if you ask; backups, logs and our log of staff actions are handled as section 7 of the Privacy Policy sets out. It does not cancel a subscription, which is Apple's to cancel — do that first, or you will keep being billed for an account that no longer exists — and it does not refund one (see 6.4).
We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, immediately and without notice where the breach involves a child, an unlawfully obtained image, or a risk to someone's safety, and otherwise after telling you what the problem is.
10. Disclaimers and liability
10.1 Provided as it is
To the fullest extent the law allows, the app is provided as it is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including as to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
10.2 Limits
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for how a conversation goes, for anything you choose to send, for a decision you make on the strength of a suggestion, or for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss. Our total liability arising out of or relating to the app is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or US$50.
10.3 What these limits do not touch
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep every right the law where you live gives you, and where a term here conflicts with one of those rights, that right wins.
11. Indemnity
You agree to cover us against claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, from a photo you had no right to use, or from a message you sent. This does not apply to the extent the claim arises from something we did wrong, and it does not apply where the law does not permit it.
12. Reporting a problem
If the app produces something harmful, offensive, or plainly wrong, tell us at support@convolabs.net with enough detail to reproduce it, or use Contact support in the app, which prefills the same thing. We read every report and aim to reply within two working days.
Reports about a person's safety, about a child, or about an image that should not have been added are treated as urgent and are not queued behind ordinary support.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, and disputes will be heard there.
If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, you may bring proceedings in the courts of the country you live in, and you keep the protection of that country's mandatory consumer law whatever this section says.
Before starting formal proceedings, please write to us. Most problems are faster to fix than to litigate.
14. Terms Apple requires
These apply to the app as licensed through Apple's App Store, and are the minimum terms Apple requires a developer's own licence agreement to carry.
14.1 Acknowledgement
You and we acknowledge that this agreement is between you and us only, and not with Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and its content.
14.2 Scope of licence
The licence granted to you is non-transferable, and is limited to using the app on any Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions — including the Family Sharing and volume-purchase provisions of those rules.
14.3 Maintenance and support
We are solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support for the app. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services for it.
14.4 Warranty
We are solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent they are not effectively disclaimed. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are our sole responsibility.
14.5 Product claims
We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the app or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to an applicable legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation.
14.6 Intellectual property claims
If a third party claims that the app or your possession and use of it infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement, and discharge of that claim.
14.7 Legal compliance
You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated by the US Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
14.8 Contact
Questions, complaints, or claims about the app should be directed to Convo Labs LLC, Lynnwood, Washington, support@convolabs.net.
14.9 Third-party terms
You must comply with any applicable third-party terms when using the app — including the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, and the terms of any messaging or dating service you send a suggested message through.
14.10 Third-party beneficiary
You and we acknowledge and agree that Apple, and Apple's subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement, and that upon your acceptance of it Apple will have the right, and is deemed to have accepted the right, to enforce it against you as a third-party beneficiary of it.
15. Changes to these terms
These terms will change as the app does. The effective date and version at the top say when they last did. Where a change materially affects your rights we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the app after that means accepting the change; if you do not accept it, stop using the app and cancel any subscription.
